Multi-Timeframe Zigzag Indicator with Support and Resistance Levels

The Zigzag indicator is a well-known tool for highlighting significant price movements and identifying market turning points. By filtering out many of the smaller price fluctuations, it presents the main price movements in a simpler way and can provide a clearer view of market structure and important changes in direction.

In this version of the indicator, in addition to supporting multiple timeframes, levels based on price turning points can also be displayed on the chart. This allows traders to monitor important levels from different timeframes and, if needed, set alerts for them.

Displaying Zigzag on Multiple Timeframes

One of the main features of this indicator is the ability to display Zigzag movements from multiple timeframes simultaneously on a single chart.

For example, if the chart is set to the 5-minute timeframe, you can display the Zigzag for the current timeframe along with information from higher timeframes such as 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour.

This allows traders to analyze important price movements across different timeframes without constantly switching the chart timeframe. The display settings can also be adjusted separately for each timeframe.

The color and line thickness of each Zigzag can be customized as well. This makes it easier to distinguish between different timeframes and identify which timeframe each movement belongs to.

For example, the 5-minute Zigzag can be displayed with thinner lines, while the 1-hour Zigzag can use thicker lines. This makes it possible to view information from multiple timeframes without having to open several separate charts.

Turning Points as Support and Resistance Levels

Another important feature of this indicator is the ability to use Zigzag highs and lows as key levels on the chart.

Levels created from price turning points can be considered as potential support and resistance areas. The indicator extends these levels across the chart, making it possible to monitor how price reacts to them over time.

For example, when a level is created from a turning point and price has not yet returned to that level, it can be displayed more prominently on the chart. In contrast, levels that have already been touched by price are displayed with lower visibility.

This approach helps prevent the chart from becoming unnecessarily cluttered while keeping important historical levels available for reference. Some of these levels may have been created much earlier but can still become relevant during future price movements.

Analyzing Levels Across Different Timeframes

Since the indicator supports multiple timeframes, support and resistance levels from different timeframes can also be displayed simultaneously on the chart.

For example, suppose the main chart is set to the 5-minute timeframe, but you also want to monitor important levels from the 30-minute or 1-hour timeframe. Simply enable the desired timeframe to display its Zigzag and related levels on the chart.

This can be useful for analyzing market structure across different timeframes. A level that has limited importance on a short-term chart may have greater significance when it comes from a higher timeframe.

The visual settings can also be customized separately for each timeframe, making it easier to distinguish the Zigzag lines and levels associated with each one.

Setting Alerts for Levels

Another useful feature of the indicator is the ability to set alerts based on the displayed levels.

Once an alert is configured for the indicator, an alert can be triggered when price reaches one of the levels associated with the active timeframes. This means you do not have to constantly monitor the chart to check whether price has reached an important level.

This can be particularly useful when several timeframes are active at the same time, making it easier to keep track of multiple support and resistance levels.

Optimized Version of the Indicator

This indicator was previously published and used by a number of users, but the new version includes significant changes to its underlying structure.

The indicator code has been rewritten and optimized to improve its performance and execution speed. The number of supported timeframes has also been increased from three to four. As a result, more information can be analyzed on a single chart, while the indicator loads and runs more efficiently.

Overall, this version can be used to analyze price structure, view Zigzag movements across multiple timeframes, and monitor important support and resistance levels. Combined with the ability to set alerts, these features make it a useful tool for traders who want to keep track of important price movements and levels across multiple timeframes.
